This is the first installment in my series of image processing tutorials. Before we go further, lets have an overlook on what image processing is. What is Image Processing? Image processing is a method to convert an image into digital form and perform some operations on it, in order to get an enhanced image or to extract some useful information from it. It is a type of signal dispensation in which input is image, like video frame or photograph and output may be image or characteristics associated with that image. How to use camera in your Android app. Android
Prerequisite : Basic knowledge of programming in Android. Camera is one of the most common features available on phones today and is also most desired one. Being a developer for smartphone apps, we must know how to implement camera functionality in our own app and how we can play around with it. In this tutorial, we are going to learn how we can use camera in our own app with full control over the camera functionality unlike launching the default camera of device. It covers everything you need to know from defining your own surface to show camera preview, to capturing the images and getting hold of image data to do whatever operations you want to do on it. Here, we have just displayed the clicked image in the bottom of screen for simplicity. This tutorial is based on eclipse Indigo Service Release 1, Android sdk v-2.2 and JDK 1.6 ...

How to add multiple sliding views in an activity Android
In this tutorial we are going to learn how we can add multiple views in an activity that changes when user drags the view. Similar functionality can be achieved using ViewFlipper that holds multiple views as children and provides methods to switch between them at runtime, but this is good for simpler views but for more complicated views, this will be a bit messy as we have to manage all the code for views in a single activity. To avoid this and to maintain modularity, we can alternatively use ViewPager which is provided by android support package (as it is a part of api level >3). This can be seen as an AdapterView (like ListView, GridView etc) containing Fragments as items. In ViewPager, Screen moves as we move our finger which is a cool effect unlike swipe detection which suddenly changes the screen as soon as swipe is done and that too by implementing our own logic for swipe detection. This can be used in applications like image viewers, e books etc where switching between multiple views along with a move-with-finger effect is needed. I personally emphasize on using Fragments where multiple screens are to be maintained in an activity, as they are like sub activities and retain the concept of modules as you can have different classes for different Fragments maintaining different views. ...
